4D land cinema: Experience biodiversity with four senses
Brief description
In recent years, we have made several video recordings of a local lavender field. In consultation with the farm, we considered how the temporary blaze of colour could also be experienced out of season.
The process resulted in a VR application with intuitive eye control that allows the field to be experienced, felt and smelled all year round. Four senses are addressed and interested parties are also given an insight into the distillation processes.
The project was supported by the Simulplus Mitmachfonds.
Regional characteristics
Rural area in Central Saxony, which is characterised by crafts, agriculture and small-scale industry (SMEs, family-run). Central Saxony is also a broad-based education location and has numerous civil society players, depending on the social region. Issues that are en vogue in the district include the emigration of young and well-educated people, the expansion of digital infrastructures, a steadily declining population and an ageing society.
